Can I suggest it’s more that just sad ? Try reading this (below) or the book “How Democracies Die”
this is the official government stance on the arts, they want us all to be in marketing/finance jobs instead. Yes this really is an actual government campaign launched in response to Brexit affecting the arts sector…
Either being cowards (“good men stay silent”), staying out of it out of pure selfishness (“maintain their neutrality”) or there aren’t enough to offset the wide range of stylized supremacy.
I meant the world over…I’m not British…but I’m sure the reality is, yes, more than sad.
at this point with the collective level of education, technology, and evolution on hand it’s going to take a comet to change things, because within the last 5 years we have even past the point where an alien invasion would bring the world together… our only hope is a comet now.
oh my gosh … may I ask if cyber is a word in your country only people over 55 would use?
Our (german) politicians adapted that wording and use it for everything now. Cyber here, cyber there … everything is cyber nowadays.
I could get CDs manufactured in the EU for example and have them delivered to an EU address, but then if I sell them through Bandcamp who takes care of posting all the items out? I would need to employ the services of someone to take care of that at an extra expense. There are sadly so many practical reasons this can’t work out for small DIY companies and individuals.
I enclose signed cards with every purchase too, so that would stop. A tiny detail but also of value (that personal touch)
Yes, when my internet went down recently Fatima helped me get back online. Much more practical than her just dancing to strange music!
Oh dear…And this is the campaign the government denied all knowledge of signing off on too at the time! As to be expected “oh sorry, we didn’t know about this…”
And unfortunately it extends far beyond artists and creatives. As I said in the feature:
“The people who have been negotiating all this, those in power, failed to understand that there’s an enormous cottage industry of creators,” he says. “It has severely restricted the potential of creatives, and that’s not just in music. There must be so many people on say Etsy who are completely stranded who were quite happily making a living making jewellery or socks but that’s been completely restricted. You feel like you’ve been let down by a system that could actually be incredibly encouraging and positive and bring so much more to people. But it’s just essentially severed all those connections at every level. The whole notion of sharing, physically, is just being destroyed at a time when we’re already feeling incredibly restricted and isolated.”
‘Cyber’ annoys me intensely when used as a shorthand for I.T. or internet. My employer recently sent internal messages about ‘Cyber Security’. This is an online (and print) publisher FFS.
I believe they discovered the word ‘cyber’ when they were driving down the Information Highway I believe
No doubt
I don’t know tbh, not heard it much before this campaign, but this definitely had everyone talking about it. In the words of Mark E Smith ‘Solicitor in studio, soon ran into trouble’ basically sums up the reaction to this campaign. This is what happens when you vote soulless bankers in charge of your welfare.
this is absurd. in no reality could the extremely unrealistic lies told by the leave camp have become a reality after brexit. what we have is a lot better than the worst case scenario, just a realistic and inevitable consequence of a smaller economy leaving a big trade coalition.
This usage is very old and pretty much correct, for what it’s worth.
Im in scotland and its not too bad. There were some disruptions in supply chain etc but nothing too major and most seems sorted now.
I do agree that were are governed by a bunch of complete muppets out for themselves though. It sucks for a libertarian minded person like myself knowning that even if people do vote a new crew in itll just be the same lol.
fiction is brought to you as reality, 1 facebook/tv preach/media @ a time…cancel intelligence, bread stupidity.

like honestly if it were the US or china who the UK would have left a trade union with, you could have been 100% sure they would have bullied you guys into a huge recession.
Don’t only blame the government, keep in mind that:
- a small majority of the country voted for Brexit;
- a large majority of the country voted for the party that was responsible of creating this mess thus giving them power to get a bad deal.
You might not have voted for either of them, but chances are that you know or are related to someone who did.
Too late for regret but keep reminding them that their vote had consequences and they are responsible for this.
100% @Automageddon !
I was really ‘disappointed’ when Brexit was first voted for with such a small majority, and believed that the campaign was poor… and really thought ‘the people’ should be given a second chance.
however, once Boris went for a re-election and got his large majority… I completely accepted that like it or not (and I didn’t
) , democracy really had spoken, and made it clear what they wanted.
sure, you can argue about ‘was there a choice?’ but thats alway true of elections… the reality is, voters knew what Boris was going to do… and they gave him a mandate to do it
