I love using presets on my Digitone II, and I’m genuinely grateful to all the sound designers who create and share their sound packs with the community.
For me, presets are often the starting point of the creative process. An interesting sound can inspire a track—and sometimes even an entire album. I know some people prefer to spend hours designing every sound from scratch, and that’s great. Personally, I enjoy exploring the enormous variety of sounds created by other musicians and sound designers.
The Digitone II has 2,048 preset slots, which sounds like a lot—until you start collecting sound packs. There are already many packs available, often containing around 128 presets each. So I constantly have to decide which sounds are the most useful, inspiring, or simply the most delicious—and deserve a place in my musical arsenal.
That is why I originally created Digitone2Link for myself: a convenient way to understand what is currently stored on my Digitone II, organize local copies of my sounds and projects, and see which sound packs I actually use the most.
Regular synchronization and backup operations are read-only: they download local copies without modifying anything on the instrument. Operations that write to the Digitone II are always initiated explicitly by the user.
Preset library features:
- Browse all 2,048 preset slots across banks A–H
- See occupied and available slots in every bank
- Filter presets by one or more tags
- Filter presets by their source sound packs
- See which sound packs are represented on the device
- Inspect the presets and tags contained in each sound pack
- Explore the entire collection through a visual tag cloud
- Keep a local, human-readable preset library organized by bank
- Create a full local backup of the preset library
Project features:
- Synchronize projects from the Digitone II
- Keep local copies of projects
- Browse the patterns contained in each project
- Export projects for backup or sharing
- Import individual projects and project archives
- Copy or move patterns between projects
Digitone2Link PRO adds:
- Duplicate preset detection
- Preset uploads to the Digitone II
- Project import
- Pattern copying and moving between projects
- Device operation history
Potentially destructive operations require explicit user action, and project modifications are backed up locally before being written to the instrument.
Digitone2Link is designed exclusively for the Elektron Digitone II. The original Digitone is not currently supported.
