Convince me why i shouldn’t sell my Digitone ii for a tonverk?
Synthesis versus sampling. Whichever you prefer.
Wavefinder is great! It’s kind of a supercharged version of the wavetable machine from Digitone II, so you’re not designing sounds whole cloth like on FM Tone (I fucking love FM Tone) but it’s still really powerful. Additionally, you get a ton of other stuff, including multisamples if you find yourself using the same sounds over and over and want to sample them
Don’t - keep the DN2 and save up for the TV
They’re both awesome. I’d say
Wavefinder is a straight up synth - it’s like having Serum in a little box.
Love both!
It’s in a smaller case
It has less outputs … and less is more
Less bugs atm
TV is awesome and my goto at the moment. So with that bias I would say go for it. What do you like about the DN 2 though, that will help you answer this question.
Unison.
Also
They both are awesome together. Create a fat multi voice layered sound on the DN autosample the TV, iterate.
You get different control over your sounds with both.
Plus routing the DN2 through TV effects chains is a great time.
TV sends tight clock?
Dont get rid of A for an idea of what B might be like.
You have A. Have you tried B?
If trying B makes you go, pah! A SUCKS! then you have a legit call for getting rid of A.
I used to own both. Now I only have the DN II. This might be because I prefer synthesis to sampling, and because I’m very used to the features of the Digi, which are still lacking in the Tonverk.

… I’m sure I’m forgetting something.
Depends if you’re into creating your own sounds with a synthesizer or want to become a curator of sample filess.
It also depends on what sort of music you want to make and the context in which you want to make it.
Summing up: Impossible for anybody but you to answer. ![]()
Ideally you want both.
I feel like the Digitone II might get an update, with the new Tonverk wavetables added to the WT selector in the Wave Tone machine. Or even a whole dedicated wavetable machine a la Wavefinder. But I guess we won’t know until it happens.
I think the Syntakt SY_CHORD machine with more wavetables would be fun.
Because you can use the MIDI Arp on the random setting to trigger the DNII and sample that output into the TV with lots of FX on it, with arp locks for extra fun.
They’re an excellent pairing if you can do that.
because you should try a Tonverk out first before selling it if you’re keen on it.
a short time using it will be way more useful than any posts here.
This! I can’t tell you how many times I had to make that same mistake until I learned my lesson.
(OT: whats the fader controller on the top shelf?)
Michigan Synthworks XVI-M. Solid bit of kit, 16 faders and 16 buttons that can have three states. Best part is 2 trs midi outputs!
