Digitone II v1.10 Overbridge usage?

Will try and take a look at this! In my initial try with audio tracks in logic, i couldnt silence the master output so i juat hear the individual outs. Am i doing anything wrong?

Also with a mac i can setup an aggregate audio device. Will that allow me to hear the digitone 2 overbridge outs through my arturia audio rig as master?

As I recall, once you select the DN2 as your audio out in Logic preferences, you will see ~40+ (or so) inputs. Those will correspond to master out on 1-2, then ascending pairs for the 16 individual tracks (taking us up to 37-38), efx 39-40 and external 41-42. As long as inputs 1-2 are not allocated to a track, you should be getting discrete channels.

I assume the aggregate device could work; I’ve only needed to select the DN2 as my input and my Arturia as output in the audio settings menu.

Amazing. Got it working in Ableton and it seems pretty tight - 16 channels + 40+ from digitone, nuts!

Will prob try and setup on Logic as i prefer it for tracking. But yeah very nice - this is a dream setup.

I would love to see Elektron enable this type of streaming for IOS compatability as well.

Has anyone done this with both a Digitakt II and Digitone II together - does audio latency become a problem at some stage?

Have no intention of using overbridge for anything else other thank recording.

Are you referring to streaming via Sonobus? If so, it runs on ios as well.
I have not tested any streaming limits with Sonobus. I would presume none, within reason assuming a network that can keep up.

found a bug with overbridge and logic. when i try and record with input monitoring and software monitoring on it weirdly sets the velocity on every digitone 2 track to zero. thought it was an issue with the volumes but it seems to be some midi messaging happening from logic to the digitone via overbridge connection.

note i can get around it by literally upping the velocities after i have pressed record.

I have experienced this as well. It seems to be caused by pressing stop twice in Logic which is to reset the transport bar to the song start. Instead of hunting down what CC message is causing this, I just adjusted my (20 year old) habit, damn.

Not sure if Elektron’s chipset supports that many USB class compliant channels.

Even with RME devices and USB class compliant modes, I think only the newest chipsets/custom FPGA can stream all channels over CC.

Overbridge requires some massively customized drivers I couldn’t see being supported on that platform, I’d love to see the newer platforms offload more of whatever local processing required for OB, I’m not sure how much they’ve been able to let the Digi 2 platform breathe after porting to it, and I’m not sure how friendly iOS would be to MacOS primary drivers/kernel extensions that have enough problems with needing active approval by the local user.

having installed the overbridge update today - it seems to be a bit of a mess for me at first. prob setup my end but i was getting all sorts of level issues, distorted tracks.

on flipside just using an aggregate device is working great and tbh not sure i understand why i would use the overbridge plugin. no need to tweak midi in my DAW, just purely recording audio and editing from there.

if i needed to organise presets - can i do that in overbridge?

It would be cool if that or transfer could do so, I just need to be mindful with mine.

If you needed additional control, wanted the DAW project to manage settings, sequence via midi instead of patterns/songs. Having extra flexibility isn’t bad even if a simpler workflow is best for you.

Does anyone have a clue to why overbridge can’t see my DN2? The OB Engine sees it and confirms the FW is the latest and also the Controll panel works, but the place where you can do all adjustments says I’m on wrong FW. And I’m on the latest FW of overbridge.

Never mind… didn’t see there was a new 1.10a :man_facepalming:
