Already mentioned this in the bug report, but trying to find out if anyone else is having this issue.
I’m a seasoned digitone user and upgraded to the 2. It’s pretty much my dream instrument. But this bug makes it worthless.
Some of my tracks will randomly go out of tune here and there and it’s reeeeally frustrating. I tried transposing the track up or down. That worked once, but now it’s just all over the place.
My unit has the latest firmware too so I don’t know.
Anyone else having this issue?? Is there something I’m missing in the 2? never ever had this issue in the original digitone. Hope elektron fixes this.
A bug is usually something you can reproduce given specific conditions, have you figured out which actions cause your tracks to go out of tune? I’d probably experiment a bit with a single track and see if you can reproduce the issue. It could have to do with voice stealing as voice allocation is usually cycled based on available resources unless you’ve already locked voices to tracks, so maybe something is causing certain voices to go out of tune on certain tracks and that might have to do with a bug. Being that you have some familiarity with the digitone paradigm and the type of issue I would think that it’s less likely to be user error or settings related, but it’s difficult to say for sure.
If you haven’t already, I would start with a single track on a single, brand new project, and then even if it’s not in a musical capacity, start stacking voices on top of each other and see if at a certain point a specific voice goes out of tune. You can usually watch the voice page to see which voice is currently playing.
Other than that, you really need to report the issue to Elektron directly so that they can validate it and add it to the fix list. If you can lead them down a path which reproduces that specific issue then it will go a lot faster on both sides.
I see several issues surrounding voice stealing and transposition in the bugs thread so they may already be aware, but you’ll have to ask them directly.
If you search the bug reports thread by keyword voice stealing or transpose, you will find other potentially related reports. I’m not saying it’s the exact same, however it could certainly have the same root cause.
That’s the best I got for you though, definitely wouldn’t hurt to make elektron’s user care aware of your issue as the bugs thread is more of a living document than a direct submission.
Good luck.
What a response. Thanks so much, I’ll try to figure it out and report it directly.
I hope it helps get you somewhere, it’s definitely got to be a frustrating issue if the behavior is currently unpredictable.
If I can think of anything else that might be worth trying, I’ll let you know.
Sure, if you build the steps to repro how it’s happening you can either “rubber duck” this yourself or people can help you narrow the problem or possibly resolve it.
