if add a “play direction” parameter to trig page would be a nice upgrade to already superb elektron sequencer, of course it is per track.
Arp percentage (condition) would be cool
Better Filter for the Noise Oscs
Regarding the FM Drum and Wavetone machines …
I find that the steeper slope achieved by combining the noise and common B/W filters sounds much better and similar to the Rytm. So an option to double whatever the dB of the noise’s filter currently is would be most welcome.
Sustain / Hold
Available via Midi
In DN1 there was an extra midi cc for sustain(hold), which made it possible to hold notes via a midicontroller.
Now this is missing in DN2!
Its a big problem for me, because i used it extensively in my performances.
As a symth there should be an option to toggle Hold or sustain to keep held notes running
Technically, typically, sustain would be a function of the controller, not the synth.
Cheers!
Well, a lot of synths do have it or at least a sustainpedal jack.
Plus with the midi ccs on the DN1 it was possible to do it with an individual button per track channel, which allowed super diffefent playstyles (espescially droning;)
Would love to see midi fx. E.g. midi note delay, midi scaler, etc like the Hapax. Would take things to next level using these boxes with external gear.
Yes, keyboard synths will have a sustain pedal input, because sustain is a proprietary function of keyboard instruments.
Modules, less so. Grooveboxes, almost never.
Regardless, when using an external controller, if sustain, latch, or hold behaviors are supported, they will be found on the controller itself.
Sustain is CC 64, if you’re looking to program a button or what-have-you.
Cheers!
Preset browser improvements
- Always remember the user’s place, shared across all three menus (load/save/manage).
- Always remember the sorting, filtering, and current bank, shared across all three menus.
- Always remember the current preset selection when you return to the preset MANAGE menu. (It is too easy to lose it in general so find any other situations where you can just suddenly lose your selection.)
- Rename the SHOW ALL SLOTS option to SHOW EMPTY SLOTS and swap its values’ meanings.
- Remove the <RESET> option from the tag saving menu. Pressing [NO] should perform that job.
- Remove the <CLEAR> option from the tag saving menu. There are rarely so many tags selected that this is really needed, and there are so few tag options anyway.
- Remove the ARPEGGIO tag. This can be automatically picked up from the preset since it stores the arp.
- In the freed up slots, add the tags TEMPLATE, CLAP, and ANALOG.
- In the tag filtering menu, add psuedo-tags ARP, MODW, AFTR, BRTH, and PBND, which are automatically picked up from the presets’ modulation params (i.e. if any amount params are non-zero).
- Additional psuedo-tag ideas: POLY, MONO
If I were to add DIRECT JUMP to DN2 I would just make it an option in personalize settings. My use case on A4/AR was always to set it and forget it. There are doubtless many who change it often, but DN2 being a physically smaller and somewhat simplified product I think making it a config setting makes the most sense.
Better yet … have them be assignable to those or any of the other modulate-able MIDI messages. (In the Setup menu)
in og digitone , arp settings where stored within the presets, and since you have something called preset pool or soundpool i think you can manage a few tricks here hehe
Stereo spread of the Wavetone oscillators, from -64 where Osc1 → L to +63 where Osc1 → R.
Yes, if you want to have a recorded pattern with some arp change, preset locks can do the trick.
But if you want to change the arp on the fly when you play live, that’s not practical.
yes but you could try the new preset trig mode and play with an external controller maybe this could do the trick , i dunno i did not tried yet
Maybe this could be done without adding a ton of values to COND. if you make it a new value for PROB: ONCE, that acts as a modifier for COND. And it just “knows” to function as Wait X for the inverted conditions.
Unfortunately, with the preset pool trig mode, each trig key just triggers the trig note of the track but with the corresponding preset, independently of received midi notes.
Quick Transpose
A different method of transposing enabled in the PERSONALIZE menu.
When enabled, to transpose a track you press [TRK] + [-] or [+].
The trig buttons change color to indicate transpose mode. [TRIG 1] is assigned to 0, or no transpose. “Transpose 0” is indicated by a grey LED when unselected. The current selected transposition is indicated by a red LED. Pressing [TRIG 2] through [TRIG 8] transposes up 1 to 7 semitones, while pressing [TRIG 16] through [TRIG [9] transposes down 1 to 8 semitones. (Note: The transposition is not relative. The trig buttons map directly to absolute transposition values.)
Press [-] and [+] to scroll up and down the possible transposition range by 12. The current “page” of values is indicated by [-] or [+] being lit up. The brighter the LED, the further in either direction. Press [-] and [+] together to reset to the “home” page.
To transpose an entire pattern this way, press [TRK] + [PTN].
To exit this mode press [YES] to keep the transposition or [NO] to undo it. (It will revert to whatever it was prior.)
You can hold [TRK] after pressing [-], [+], or [PTN] in the beginning to keep the transpose mode on until you release [TRK]. With this method, the transposition is always kept.
The [TRK] + [FUNC] + [-]/[+] and [TRK] + [PTN] + [-][+] shortcuts are unaffected.
Allow notes to be moved to adjacent steps in the Note Edit menu
It’s cumbersome to extract notes from a step with the intent of moving them to another part of the sequence. Currently, changing the TIME param is restricted to the microtiming range of -23 to 23 and doesn’t allow the note to be moved beyond that. So I propose allowing the current note to be moved to other steps by holding [FUNC] whilst turning [F]. The TIME value doesn’t change, just the step the note belongs to.
