Digitone II CoreVault - Update 3.0! - now including 808

Wow, @Jeanne what great sounds! I just got my DN2 yesterday, after having used a DN1 extensively since 2020. I was particularly surprised by the 606/808 drums, they’re very accurate!

What’s the name of the high frequency sound and ambience in the Planetary Assault Systems jam?

It’s FXPLANET  The Bell-Sounds are taken from the many LSBELL sounds.

Is this 303 sound included in Core Vault (pardon if this has been asked already)?

Hey jeanne

This is a great pack ,quite blown away on how realistic the 606/808/909 sounds are

Cant find the ‘T99 Anastasia’ stab ? I’m sure I heard it in the demo ?

Hiiii … look for “ANAS”. It’s four sounds layered [the original is an orchestra with choir]. For Old School style, use all four layers. For newer stuff (e.g. Gabber), you can leave out the “DB” [stands for double bass] layer. In the project file, there’s an example pattern showing how it is done

Re: ChromaVault - Brand new soundpack for Dub, Hypnotic, IDM and more - #42 by duoso

@duoso I think you are refering to CoreVault  Thank you so much!
About Transients … for me, those are more of a hindrance than helpful, thus I don’t use them at all. Instead of checking of by pure coincidence one of those 100+ Transients is the one I need, I rather make the correct one right away by synthesis. And things like e.g. the extremely characteristic “click” of a TR-606 Bassdrum isn’t a job for such things anyway. But yeah, this is the goal of these packs: To make it really fun to work with the DNII. I am having a blast myself with the *Vault Packs and use them all the time.

You are the best sound designer I’ve ever heard.

I was just thinking the same thing. It’s one thing to create something new through experimentation, it’s a whole step up to recreate existing patches on a subtractive synth due to the variances you get in filters, and it’s mindblowing to take it a step up and be able to nail it using FM. I like to think I have a decent ear, but I’d be lying if I said I could do this without a painstakingly slow use of analyzers along the way.

@Jeanne is the main reason I can’t seem to choose between the Digitone II and Syntakt half of the time - every moment she convinces you of the power of one, she turns around and does something incredible on the other box.

This pack is a game changer for me. I thought I couldn’t use the DN2 without a sampler by its side for drums until I tried the drum sounds in here. The sound design in this pack is so excellent that it has to be witchcraft

Got it and tried it today!

I didn’t know that the Digitone can get so punchy!
Love it!

And the Breakbeat Snares are a really nice surprise (:

Thank you! These sounds have quite some advantages over samples:

  • You can pitch them down without a degradation in quality
  • No dreaded machinegun effect
  • You have full control over the “atoms” of the sound (e.g. to tweak them to really fit into your song)

@Jeanne which of your packs would you recommend the most for drumnbass, jungle and ragga? Maybe the chrome vault?

I am unsure which one would be most suitable for my style. And if you haven’t made one yet for that style of music, are you planning to add one in the future that could fit those styles a bit better?

Yes ChromaVault fits superwell, here are some examples:

a bit D’n’B:

Stacked Evil Basses:

Awesome Pads (towards the end):

… I have one last Pack planned, which will be called something like “RageVault”, and it’ll be for everything hard and brutal: Industrial, Dubstep, Hardcore.

This is not an understatement. I didn’t know these classic sounds were achievable on Digitone.

You have a talent and a gift for synthesis. As well as much composition.

I think I have all but one of your presets packs.
