Digitone companion for ambient

Thanks all. I’ll continue my research!

Hi @Soundrider. Thanks for your ongoing thoughts on this.

Having done an initial comparison of the 1010 boxes, 404 and MC101 (your later suggestion) (see below), I am leaning towards the 404, so working around its limitations as you suggest may be the way to go. In answer to your question, I’m imagining it for atmospheres (which only need a single voice) and evolving chordal ambient pads (which I would produce on Kontakt in my DAW setup). The latter are the main requirement for chromatic poly control. However, having watched a number of the Japanese 404 videos, I suspect I may be moving away from my initial instinct to want to control all this from the DN, which will mitigate the chromatic requirement.

it doesn’t do everything you want, but the soma cosmos is absolutely worth researching.

That’s a decent comparison matrix - cudos :+1:

You might also look into the MC 707, big brother of the MC 101 …

Thanks.

707 is getting a bit pricy for me.

Just had a quick look at all the new suggestions:

Cosmos, Tempera, Torso - too expensive (“not looking to spend a fortune” = under £500)
Circuit Rhythm isn’t polyphonic per track
Texture lab only has 6 sec samples ('m after long, evolving pads - 1 min absolute minimum)

Thanks anyway!
