Digitone 2 vs Syntakt

Heeey! I managed to do something very similar

30 tracks later, I have the exact same 4 midi CC per track.

You were talking about “Note: I didn´t made this up by myself, I copied some of it from Barker’s live setup and adapted it to my needs.” Do you have a specific youtube/guide/anything in mind? I tried to find it but couldn’t :frowning: is it the Echio masterclass?

I use a different layout for tracks, I have:
1 2 Mono
3,4,5 Polyphonic (Poly to Mono M4L device that makes it play chords from the T1)
6,7,8 Polyphonic (same)
9 10 11 12 Mono

I use the LCXL2 for the Midi CC, 3 rows of knobs + Fader, and I use an APC 40 to control the track level on the Push 3 SA.

I have both, and both are great.
They complement each other.
Elektron is very clever.
Of course implementing Syntakt’s digital machines on DN2 would be a piece of cake, but you can’t port the analog tracks nor the analog FX track, so that’s a dead end.
Due to limited processing power you can’t port most of DN2’s machines to ST, so another dead end.
So both DN2 and ST have its strengths.
For me ST means immediacy and fun, while DN2 means deepness and sheer power.

does the Syntakt have slide trigs ?!

No

damn. why the heck they avoid this for any newer boxes… its so sad and silly

@ulverine what is the use cases for slide trigs? How do you usually use them?

It has pretty advanced portamento/legato functions

Slide trigs have always been pretty useless imo because you can’t exclude parameters from it. It’s always all or nothing if you have multiple things p-locked.

It’s one of the things (next to swing trigs :stuck_out_tongue: ) I never use on the OT.

I used slide trigs a lot on the
Machinedrum, not so much on the OT. Works better on synth sounds imo.

I used swing trigs a lot on the MD too, but that was simply because it didn’t have microtoming. I don’t know how I managed to live without it tbh…

I guess so, but during the time had an A4 I didn’t really make use of it either. Maybe for the odd pitch slide here and there.

Let me put it like this: I would take more modulation options (lfo, mod env, key tracked mods, random offsets) over slide trigs any day of the week.

Yeah, an extra LFO in particular would do so much more.

Parameter slides can create more interesting sounds imo.
