Digitakt sequencing iPad synths

The DT is MIDI over USB class compliant no? So I can plug in directly to the iPad and start sequencing? Trying to figure out which connector I would need. There is a $40 cable by iConnectivity but that seems like a rip off.

I use the Apple Camera connection kit. Has to be the Apple brand, not a generic one. It works.

Just to get this straight, is this using a USB cable or a USB to MIDI cable (which can be had for as little as €10,-)?.

Cheers

USB to lightning connector. Sure, you can get a cheap usb to midi, but that won’t connect with the iPad. The Apple CCK lets you plug the yummy red usb cable right into the iPad.

Perfect! Thanks. This is going to be so much fun. Which DAW do you use?

I use Ableton OR sample the iPad output back to the digitakt

Get the cck3. It’s more expensive but u can charge while u use it and it powers some gear that needs more juice than just the ios device. I use it daily. Worth it

looks worth it, thanks

I just picked up the http://www.korg.com/us/products/computergear/plugkey/ yesterday and give it a thumbs up.

My favorite feature is that it can send audio out through the lightning cable connection. Then the plugKey has 1/4th Stereo and Headphone out with gain control. So I’m able to control midi-in to the iPad, charge the iPad, and play audio out all with a single lightning connection.

Seems overpriced/over-complicated compared to the Apple CCK 3 and a 3.5 to 1/4" cable solution unless you have issues with the headphone out jack.

I got mine for $79 on Amazon. I also like having the gain control on the plugKey. I was getting a lot of clipping when sampling to my DT with the direct headphone out of the iPad so it also saves me having to go through a mixer. It all depends on what you are personally using it for, but of the three options I tried (iRig2, Apple CCK, and the plugKey) this one worked out the best for me.

Cool, I’ll keep it in mind if the CCK doesn’t work out for me.

Do you notice any difference in sound quality or latency when using it?

The sounds quality was excellent. Didn’t really notice any latency; it felt and sounded responsive. I only had a few issues with programmed patch changes in quick succession. I’m not sure if it was the DT, the plugKey, or Sunrizr that was the promblem. Going to test that more tonight.

The good thing about the iConnectMIDI1 cable is I can use it with the iPad and my organelle (not simultaneously obviously).
If you have other gear with USB midi in, don’t overlook it.

Kind of a 2 for one swiss army knifer.
