Digitakt Sequencing Blofeld

So, I’ve started experimenting with this setup, but I’m getting a lot of pops and clicks on Blofeld from the midi messages being sent. Is this normal? Start / End of notes is the main issue, although it also seems really sensitive to other midi cc stuff when p locked too…

It’s not on all patches. I can get around it sometimes with amp attack, but it doesn’t always completely remove the problem and isn’t ideal!

Which os you have on both maschines? I have on my Blofeld OS 1.25 and on the Digitakt 1.08 and it works perfekt for me.

Same! This afternoon I updated them both to the latest before setting up

The blofeld also seems reeeeally loud. Volume between 10 and 20 is fine… Above 30 is too much in my cans (and I’m used to things being pretty loud). But it goes upto 127, which is insane?!

I’ve had 2 or 3 Blofelds and they all did this to me. This is also why I don’t have them anymore. It’s just the engine as far as I can tell. Aliasing occurs quite easily as well…

Yeah, I can’t seem to find any kind of work around. The start of notes sounding constantly clicky… Argh!

It’s like the incoming midi signal is clipping or something.

Hi, you should try to set the filter envelope attack value a little above zero, this often works when I encounter clicks.

Might not actually be related but I have this issue sometimes with the Octatrack. The problem for me is the OT sends cc messages after the note on message. Blofeld responds to the cc messages but if a note is played at the same time, there will be a slight glitch as the cc updates after the note is triggered.

I’m not sure how the DT works in sending out cc but it might be worth contacting support and asking them

I’ve been doing that, but it needs to be pushed so far that the sound then toootally changes or is unusable!

This is the official Waldorf take:

See the ‘Why Do Some Synths Produce Clicks’ section. The last line made me really dislike the guy that wrote it. It has a real “we could do something about this, but have chosen to leave it sounding s***. And I’m proud of it being recognisably awful” kinda vibe.

Thanks for this tip - genuinely useful to know and I’ll check into it! Gonna try sequencing it with some other synths to see if it does the same…
