To preface, I want to move patterns (and their samples) in other projects. The problem is that the target project’s RAM is full. Likely, some samples are not used and can be deleted from RAM, but it is difficult to know which are not used (especially when a sample is assigned to a conditional trig). Am I missing something? (I feel like I am.)
As far as I know VIEW +DRIVE is the only place you can view what samples are “in use.” VIEW RAM does not show this and nor does anywhere else. It also seems kind of crazy (unless I am in fact the crazy one) that there is no purge option for unused samples.
I would greatly appreciate insight, ideas, DT user’s own solutions, etc.
Much appreciated! >_<

I have to agree that a Purge samples option is much needed - for both Project and +Drive

How do you go about tracking down unused samples?

I don’t know if there’s a way currently… I wish they added a little icon on the project sample list - I think there was something like this implemented on the A4…? on the SoundPool… I think
Maybe some way to lock all patterns within a project so they are write protected could be added, with a delete all unprotected samples from project function to clear up.

If I put all the current samples on my digitakt in a folder as well as all the projects can I clear the entire system and then just reload the sample folder and sysex files and it will be able to play the project?

But thereinlies the question, is there a way to copy and not move the files? It would mess up the sample organization then, right? However, this does seem like the only viable solution at the moment.
Files on the digitakt +drive are identified by a hash number that is generated by the digitakt and not the actual file placement on the +drive. So assuming the files were pulled from the digitakt through the transfer software putting them back in any order will repopulate the projects properly.
I often move samples around on the plus drive.
