Hi, I’m new to Elektron & Digitakt. I’m trying to setup a system with the Roland JU06A (with keyboard). I’d like to use the JU06A as an input as well as an output. So I can record MIDI notes on the Digitakt using the JU06A keyboard and then playback the notes from the Digitakt sequencer into the JU06A for output.

So I’ve set up MIDI Autochannel and am using Channel 1 for the JU06A. When I set the Digitakt to Edit mode and play a note on the JU06A, the note plays indefinetely and does not stop. I believe it is playing back the MIDI signal to the JU06A and causing some kind of feedback loop…

Is this setup at all possible? What am I doing wrong?

It work if I disable MIDI out on the digitakt while entering the notes and then enable MIDI out for playback… but that is a bit tedious…

Thanks!

You need to turn off “local” on the controller. That way the synth keybed triggers the Digitakt and then Digitakt will trigger the synth.

Thanks, by controller you mean JU06A?

Yes. It looks like there’s a controller mode, but the manual states that the synth won’t produce sound while in controller mode. Having a look through the manual, I don’t see an option for local control.

Yes, can’t find anything related to “local control” in the manual of the JU06A. Do you think it’s a limitation of the device? Not possible to be used as input and output simultaneously?

You might wait for someone else to reply. The only thing I can think of is using a separate midicontroller.
