Yes. Select Audio/MIDI under System > USB and it becomes a class compliant, plug and play audio interface, which sends main audio out and receives usb audio too… IPhone’s Voice Memo is the built-in way on iPhone.
Incidentally Im curious in turn what alternatives there are for recording long-form audio, like jams. Voice Memo does well with long recordings and has some quality options, but is something else more feature rich?

I use the AudioShare app for this usually. Does basic editing like trim and normalize, and supports different sample/bit rate too.
