Digitakt + Push 3 with Ableton 12 issue

Hi everyone,

I used Ableton Live Suite 12 with Ableton Push 3 and Digitakt.
I have some issues with Overbridge engine (I think ?!)
Ableton push 3 alone works very well, but when I plug Digitakt after few minutes overbridge engine have some issue asking to reboot Digitakt and Push3 reboot.
I think I didn’t have set properly my Ableton settings.
Someone could help me on this ?
Another information, I used Push 3 as soundcard.

Many thanks

If you’re using a USB hub to connect your gear, try it without the hub. Or at least try a different USB cable. Sounds like an issue caused by something in between the device and the host momentarily breaking the connection and causing the device or devices to be redetected and so it doesn’t drop out completely, but for long enough to give you a headache.

Happens a lot with unpowered hubs, or underpowered hubs, so in the event that you are using a hub, and if for example the push 3 or some other controller is being powered directly by USB power out of the hub, then that could be the source of the problem (although this is a lot of “if’s”).

In the event that this is the case, sometimes but not always it can help to reorder the devices plugged into the powered hub. So like if push comes before digitakt coming from the primary USB port (you’ll have to see if you can look online and see if you can find a diagram which shows the ordering of the usb ports from the “root” hub I think it’s called, on out) then you would swap the order so that one device is closer to the root than the other. This is mostly useful with data issues as opposed to powering issues, so it may have zero effect.

If you are already plugged directly into your computer’s USB ports and this is still happening currently then I don’t know, it must be something else, but I’m not educated enough on troubleshooting ableton to really give you kind of any advice on that.

Definitely good to try different cables in any event, because it’s not uncommon for some device to be picky about the cable which is being used to connect it to a computer. Even the stock cables can get weird after a few years. Anyways, good luck.

Edit: also, if a device can be discretely powered with it’s own PSU and just gives you the option to USB power it and that’s what you’re doing, try using the discrete power supply. If the power draw is an issue, that might fix it even without doing anything else. I know digitakt requires discrete power but I don’t know about Push so I just thought it was good to add for reference.

Many thanks for your explanations. I will try tomorrow and I will push an update.

See you
