Digitakt + Powerful drum machine to sample

Hi Guys!.. I know there’s already tons of forums discussing about similar topics but I’m already totally stuck with this doubt… (cant even Sleep lol…).
So, the point is that I have this set up:
Ms2000Br and Clavia NordRack with an Octatrack to sample and sequence those two beast and make crazy things.
I have also a Digitak for drumms and percussion lines and grooves as it’s absolutely amazing machine and i’m really happy with it.
I use it with sound samples I already have to squeeze and twist them and that’s it.

BUT… and here it comes… Ive been producing for a year and now i’m quite bored already about my sound galleries and what I need now is a DRUM MACHINE with deep syntesis capabillities to create my own percussions and sequence and sample with the DT and squeeze it even more with more LFO and FX. The point is that I don’t know if after only one year it’s ok to get a modular type drum machine where I can control every single detail but will take hours and hours to get a kick drum or just go for something not that complicated in between.

So What do you guys recommend???..
DT + DFAM or DT + TEMPEST or DT + Any other Drumm machine or just buy an ANALOG RYTM and forget all of previous shit??.. lol…
The point is AR is quite low in Syntesis as I’ve read??..

I do techno of course and kind of POLE GROUP techno… It’s quite percussive deep mentally and hardly sometimes.

So thanks in advance guys!!!

The king of them all, machinedrum

Instill discover new ways to use it. To me the individual outs, trig layering and mute groups are ace!

How about a basic analog synth? Maybe a Moog Mother 32? You can make wonderful oneshot-samples for years to come  And with further tweaking in the Digitakt+resampling - you won’t get bored.

yep I was thinking on it… but with a moog DFAM which do more or less same stuff… and it’s more “percusion” orientated… but as it’s semi modular I don’t know if it’s too soon for that. Open this (modular) gate is falling straight to a deep black hole full of cables patches and of course bills… :joy::joy:

You can do a lot with the AR alone, but it 's constrained to certain drum models/parameters. This makes it easy to use, however if you like deep synthesis, it’s probably not what you should buy. For drums, I much prefer the Digitone or even the Analog Four.

DFAM - not only just for drums

If you’re into techno, Noise Engineering stuff is invaluable.

And what can I do with the digitak then?.. As MD UW is already sampler as well?.. Ok not that powerful sampling as DT but it’s useful have both??..

MD can sequence recorders, and play / mangle recordings directly.
44.1 khz 12 bit. 2.2MB Ram.
Really limited compared to OT concerning sampling.

With a DT I’d rather choose a DN than a MD for deeper digital drum synthesis.

Concerning analog drums, yes A4 is more capable than AR but AR is much quicker to make drums. It lacks lfos, envelopes…
I like its overdrives / compressor but it also lacks EQ.

AR MKII without DT ? Why not. Much bigger!

Make Noise O’coast seems interesting too form drums sampling.

My vote is for MD UW
Resampling, 16 tracks, badass synthesis engines

I’ve made tracks with just MD alone, endless possibilities in that silver box

I found them pretty cheap. Really interesting to mangle, but Digitone seems definitely more capable for digital drum synthesis.

DN gets my vote if you have the patience to craft drum sounds/resample/etc…

It is very simple to make good drums but takes time for amazing drums.

Those FM kicks are divine

They might sound thin at times but I have unlocked some gems with EFM, E12, GND SN machines

I have DFAMs and I pretty much never use them as drums. Mostly noise makers/groove enhancers/stage thickness/bass. DFAM is much better suited for the OT with THRU machines or something similar. Not as 33second limited DT samples.

Also controlling a DFAM requires ADV/Clock or multiple CVs which is something the DT cannot do without other gear.

Sticking to DN here. You get other bonuses like a 3 year warranty/overbridge/wicked FM/etc…

EDIT:

Also if you are just looking to add flavor, why don’t you look at a Volca Drum? Those things are bananas for the price. Plocks/interesting synth engine…

Matter of taste ! I think I prefered TRX, PI, RAM machines.
Anyway I hope I’ll buy a MD again again, I kept my black faceplate so I have to!
Digitone first.

Digitone is a good choice also.

I’ve always wanted to get my hands on a black faceplate. I have a gold faceplate which looks pretty sharp.

So I just listened to Pole Group Techno for the first time. The Volca Drum is screaming from the bench “let me in coach!”

Seriously!

Start at 10:30 ish if you just want an good example of 3 tracks going bonkers:

There’s also a really good thread on this forum for it.

Damn I just GAS’d myself…

dfam is great, i have 2 of them. it does very dynamic sounds and is a great companion to the dt.

alternatively you could preorder a pulsar 23 from soma

on the modular side, have a look at the modulers from wmd and noise engineering.

Yea I have 2 as well haha. Dueling DFAMs!

They are great to jam on with the DT for sure, just not clear if it would fit the purpose of creating one shots. Anything is possible though!

Thanks all you guys for your tips!..

What I’ve learned now is this:

Regarding DN and A4 are both amazing machines for syntesis but all videos I’ve seen people jamming, tutorials etc show them as more into more “melodic” techno??..

Pure Modular such as Make Noise and all this stuff I think for me how is a bit too immersive into sound design to spend hours and hours just to get a nice bass drum.

That’s Why I was maybe thinking on something in between…

AR is lack of synthesis and better for live performance and also its sound is really really good…

MD (which is my favorite option) Really good in percussive syntesis, nice sound and together with DT for sea and sampling and AH for this noisy and distort FX can be the perfect match.

DFAM is great not only for drums but also for bass and in between lines, sounds also narrow and punchy and it’s a nice mid step to go to Modular in the future…

So My brain is going to blow up… as Now I read all you guys about DN and A4 and i’m doubting more than ever… lol…
