believe it or not, that’s one of the main selling points of the DT2 for me (16 CCs per track, nameable & saveable) — but I’m so happy with my DT and second hand prices atm are terrible locally as you will know, so I’m holding out for a while to see how people end up liking and using their DT2s before I’ll consider it.
And you’re absolutely right about the velocity sensitivity of the ND3P, that too was one of the reasons why I decided for it (bought it for a small e-drum kit originally, so that responsiveness was key :)).
