Digitakt: MIDI Sequencer + Pattern Chaining Problem

Hey everyone & anyone!

I’ve been having a bit of a serious problem with my gear and it relates specifically to one piece of equipment that I have connected to the DT through MIDI. First let me explain my setup a bit:

DT --> Quadra Thru

QT Channel 1 --> DSI Prophet Rev2
QT Channel 2 --> Moog Sub Phatty
QT Channel 3 --> Korg Volca Bass
QT Channel 4 --> Korg Volca Keys

Now for some reason, when I sequence the Prophet with a certain pre-set or one of my patches, and I’m pattern chaining (i.e. Pattern 3 --> Pattern 4), although the pre-set/patch will be the same in both patterns, when the DT switches to Pattern 4, it will reset the Prophet and choose the default preset. Keep in mind this has only happened with the Prophet.

This is a big problem as I play live sets, and I can’t figure this out.

It’s probably silly, but I cannot for the life of me find out what the issue is.

Any and all help appreciated!!

Are you intentionally trying to send Program Change messages from the DT to the Rev2 when you change patterns?

Alternatively, are you intending to change patches on the Rev2 when the DT changes to pattern 4?

What do you mean by “reset the Prophet”?

What do you actually want to happen on the Rev2 when you change the DT to pattern 4?

So sorry if I wasn’t too clear :confused:

Basically what I’m trying to do is have the same exact sequence and same exact sound across both patterns on the Rev2. The only thing that changes is the beat, really.

And what I meant by reset is that it immediately switches (upon moving to the next pattern) to the default setting which in this case is a specific preset. Also, even though I saved the patch or preset that I want on the DT, I have to switch it back to that preset before I press play, or even before I un-mute it.

So in short, anytime I un-mute or press play, I end up having to switch everything back to the way I want it even though I already have it saved.

I hope this clarifies a bit. I’m really new to all this so I apologize if my explanations don’t come off detailed enough. I’ve only been messing with synths for about 8-9 months. If not, I’d be willing to upload a video to explain my problem a bit more.

Don’t worry, we will figure it out, although I’m more confused now.

Are you saying that the problem is that you don’t want the Rev2 to change patch when the DT changes pattern?

If so:

If you never want that patch change to happen, then deactivate PROG CH SEND in the DT’s SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > SYNC menu.

If you only want to stop the patch change from happening when you switch to pattern 4, then set PROG to “OFF” on the relevant MIDI sequencer track in pattern 4.

@PeterHanes, I owe you a great deal of gratitude.

Apologies on my late reply, but I was on a trip with very little to no internet connection. But I’m back and tried this last night and it worked perfectly!! The solution was, as you said, turning the PROG to “OFF”.

Thank you so much for your help man, I really appreciate it :slight_smile:
