Hello,
I would like to know if a feature that I find particularly interesting on the MachineDrum is present with the Digitackt.
In fact, when the mute mode is engaged, by pressing the function key, you can mutate or activate tracks by choosing them and then releasing the function key.
I can’t reproduce this on the digitackt. Anyone know if a similar action is possible on digitackt?
Thank you
The Digitakt has both a Mute mode and a Quick Mute function.
From the manual:
8.5.2 MUTE MODE
Func + Bank will enter/exit mute modes.
Func + double tap Bank will change between Global (Green) and Pattern (Purple) mute modes
Pattern only mutes on the current pattern, global persists between patterns.
Quick Mute
Func + Track Key to quick mute/unmute. This uses the last selected mute mode (Global/Pattern).
The feature that the OP is describing allows you to cue up multiple mutes/unmutes by holding the FUNCTION key. Those mutes are not actually actioned until you release the key. This allows you to get several tracks ready in advance and mute/unmute cleanly in one action. I don’t know if the DT does that (I don’t own one).
Ohhh okay, didn’t know that.
The DT does no do this. It would be nice
Thanks for your answers ! Yes it would be nice.
amen to that!
I have mentioned this gripe with the Digitone as well. and it’s not just the Machinedrum that does this! the Monomachine, Octatrack, Analog Four and Analog RYTM ALL DO THIS! no idea if the Model:Samples does. I’m guessing Elektron left such a “pro level” feature off on purpose…? but then they decided to give these extra pattern-level mute options, which I’m 99% sure none of the above boxes have. VERY annoying.
side note: I actually remember when this feature was requested and added to the Machinedrum. back when the “forum” was Yahoo user groups…
You get pattern mutes in song mode, on those machines that have it. Not quite the same thing, but it covers some of the same functionality.
How to do this on OT?
go into mixer mode, then the left 8 step buttons are the internal OT tracks, right 8 step buttons are the midi tracks. that’s your mute mode.
in this mode, pressing any of the step buttons (without holding function) will change the corresponding track’s mute/active state. but if you press+hold function and then press one or more step buttons, their corresponding track’s state won’t change until you release the function button.
glorious functionality! heartbroken they broke it in the Digi boxes.
