I finally pulled the trigger on a piece of Elektron gear and just got my Digitakt II yesterday. Aside from getting used to the file hierarchy, I cannot access the Metronome at all. It’s flashing and locked at 120 BPMs. I was following allong with the manual muting and unmuting TRK, PTN, and SONG pads, but nothing is muted right now. If I hold FUNC and click TRK I can see the speaker icon with an x to the left of the metronome icon. I also cannot even get into the page, or tap tempo. Did I lock it out somehow?
I think you are trying to hold Func while hitting the metronome button, which is for tap tempo (“blinking 120 BPM” is waiting for you to tap in your tempo).
You should just tap the metronome button only and it will open the menu. Make sure metro is on, slider to the right, and have the click volume audible.
You may have also put the metronome/tempo in Global BPM mode, I think it is Func + Yes. If so, hit Func + Yes again to return to Pattern BPM
You mean the speaker icon with an ‘x’ ? That just means you’re in one of the Mute Modes.
That’s odd. Try this:
Turn off the DT2, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on while holding FUNC.
This will give you a menu. Press trig 1 to enter Test Mode and then press the Metronome button.
It should show TEMPO PRESSED on the screen. If it doesn’t, the button is faulty and you should get in touch with Elektron support or the place where you bought it from.
Hello! Thank you for the info for test mode! It doesn’t recongnize the metronome button has been pressed, but does for all other buttons. I did notice that Trig 1 just gives a white screen on the LCD, Trig 2 doesn’t give any text. All other Trig buttons give the info Trig 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 etc. pressed.
is DT2 different then other elektrons? because this is the behavior both on my DN and AR, white screen on trig 1 and no text on trig 2, just a flashing menu on top
It’s a pixel test used for identifying problems with the display (dead pixels / pixels stuck on), it’s the same for all elektron machines. Standard behavior in test mode.
well, the tempo/metronome button should register clicks, if it doesn’t then there’s most likely a problem with the unit, I was just wondering about trig1 and trig2 if they changed it
