Just wondered if all new units are now being shipped with updated firmware? Another point that made me think my new unit is possibly someone else’s return is that when I went to manage projects I saw these already in the list. Am I being paranoid or is this how they’re shipped?
It’s also possible that the retailer played with this unit and then somehow decided that you would be the one to receive it. I assume the top corner of the screensaver was already torn when you received it. Also, I don’t know if they currently ship with the new firmware, but anything packaged prior to the update will be shipped with what was available when built and put in a box, regardless of the vendor. I would wager that elektron employees know how to do a factory reset though, so I think that points towards gear4music. Annoying, but probably not the end of the world if nothing else is amiss.
Mine came from Gear4music on weekend (second batch I believe and with latest firmware). The box was sealed with the Elektron sticker and only preset project in the Project list
Sorry, but I honestly don’t get these threads. Maybe these confusions happen, because people from other countries buy gear online from Germany or other European countries.
In Germany you have the right to give a device you bought online back within 2 weeks, or sometimes even a month (Thomann).
If the device doesn’t have any visible dents or anything, Thomann or gear4music, or any other company will most likely sell it again as new, even if they have been “used” by a customer before. These companies won’t have much time to look at the device, so mostly the customer decides by complaining about something that it becomes a B-stock device.
I read so many times on here and in other forums, that people buy stuff just to try it out and see if they wanna keep it… these numbers must be huge. And of course, not all of these devices become B-Stock…
I always look at the box to see if the security seal is intact (the little Elektron sticker in the case of Elektron gear). Surprising how often I’ve gone to pick up a piece of brand new gear from a retailer (or it’s been delivered) and the box has already been opened before it got to me.
If the device is someone else’s return there’s the possibility of this one not being fine… I’m happy to get to grips with it (fantastic so far) while I wait for Gear4Music to reply.
Appreciate the quick responses from everyone, hi by the way!
There was an actual project in the one labelled SRESETS that sounded ok! The 5 “NEW PROJECTS” were just empty though. Hmm do I have the rights to that one?
