Digitakt II Midi Sync Isssue

Hello Folks
I just bought a Digitakt II. I was trying to midi sync to my older sampler a Korg ESX-1. I set the Digitakt II to midi clock send and switched my Korg to External clock. Nothing happened when I pressed play on the Digitakt II expect hear the pattern playing on the Digitakt II. Do I have to make a track a midi channel for the Korg? I also had other gear with a Midi splitter I tried with the Digitakt II and nothing synced.

Thanks for your help

Hey, you need to either create a midi track and populate the sequencer for it, or change the track that you’re currently working with to a midi machine. Audio tracks do not generate midi data.

So if I have the Digitakt II connect as the master to a midi splitter. Do I have to make a midi track for every piece of gear connected to the splitter? I just want them to sync. I don’t need to change parameters. I just want the sequencer on each piece of gear to start when I hit play on the Digitakt II. Thanks!

You just want clock and transport to start the other sequencers? For that you need to also enable “transport send” in the settings menu and as long as you’ve configured the midi channel or auto-channel then it should start.

If the ESX-1 has transport receive, enable that as well.

Ok, So I need to enable Transport send, then make a midi track with corresponding midi channels for each piece of gear connected to the DigitaktII?
Thanks for your help. I have never had midi issues with gear before so this new Digitakt is really throwing me some curve balls.

If you just want sync , you need clock send

If you want external sequencers to also start playing , you need to enable transport ( ie play , stop )

If you want to sequence external gear with the digitakt you need to use a midi track assigned to the relevant midi channel.

If you are using external sequencers ( eg korg ) to sequence itself , you only need clock and transport from digitakt.

Yeah, that should work. For your purposes I think re5et is right, just enable transport and press play. Let us know if the problem persists.
