Is it possible currently to create a kit, save it and then somehow export it so another user can load the kit you made onto their digitakt II?
I tried saving a project to see if kits would also be carried accross, which isnt a thing, also currently there is no option in transfer to manage kits. It would be amazing if this was implemented.
Any workarounds? I noticed you can send kit sysex data, but from reading the manual, i’m thinking this is just separated track preset data?
Under ‘Preset/Kit’ (button next to Func), under kit -> manage -> right menu there’s an option ‘Send Sysex’ . So it’s possible to export it to a sysex utility on your computer, but I’m not at all clear how it would be imported somewhere else. Maybe just select empty pattern then send the sysex ? I may play with that.
It’s a shame that Transfer appears not to support this … that looks like an oversight to me.
EDIT: Sorry, should have read more of your post, I’ve only added a tiny bit to what you already said.
I had a play around no luck, I really hope they add it! I make preset and sample packs and id love to create a dedicated add on for packs that have digitakt 2 kits to load up
I was disappointed the “new” Elektron Dig II sample pack had no kits. Surco told me this is impractical.
Can anyone tell me if there is any kind of standard table of locations for kick, snare, blah blah? I realize it’s totally open to whatever you want. I’m just wondering if there is a table of how Elektron tends to deliver them. Seems like a useful thing to standardize with the kits feature and all. I could audit how the DII comes from factory of course. I’m just curious if anyone has it all written down or in a spreadsheet. The bottom line is I want to create a kit (or kits) of the sample pack.
Irony is it would be very practical to package up kits! On MPC and other machines, VST plugins it’s a standard thing. It seemed so obvious to the point where most of my producer peers thought the same and couldn’t find an option in transfer.
Hoping one day it’s in an update but it sounds like the infrastructure isn’t set up that way to allow it maybe
I see what you mean. If you send a kit sysex, then try receiving that sysex to a new pattern in a new project, only two things happen.
You get a quick message on-screen saying the kit was received.
All the slot assignments change to A:OFF.
Apart from that, nothing,
no samples (I didn’t really expect that though)
no evidence of presets (names, src page, machine, amp page not changed)
Looks like they didn’t finish writing it for launch
If he said ‘impractical’ and not ‘impossible’ I guess there must be some way of doing it with a combination of kit sysex and preset sysex (or presets via transfer) … maybe I’ll experiment some more.
