Digitakt II: bug reports

My guess is that the dev team are all working away on overbridge for Digitone2. I fear we may not see any of these things addressed for some time now.

I’m really yearning for mono sampling and a slice mode

My guess is that they wanted to do an awful lot with DT2, but they bit off more than they could chew and had to release it with fewer features (and more bugs) than expected. I suspect that now it’s released they will take their time to get everything right, not least, address all the bugs, and probably only the most screamingly obvious, and already promised, omissions (I would include mono sampling, there may be others)

I personally suspect bigger features (granular, polyphony, enhancements to grid mode, wave folding and more) will be much later than the ‘bug fix’ release, if they happen at all.

It has not.

People had high hopes and were wish-listing stuff like crazy when this first landed; granular, polyphony, extra effects, internal buses, synth engines etc etc

Eight months in and at this point I’d just like a sampler I could, well you know … load samples into, without fear of it going to pieces.

All the major feature gaps remain including several that the DT1 had, as do several very serious bugs (sample transfer & range of zero crossing/slicing issues being the most obvious).

This!
I’ve learned to buy gear as it is now and not as it might be in future.
That’s why I’ll keep my DT1 and currently refrain from buying a DT2.

Elektron, do your homework!

I love the DT2. But I am not confident in performing live with it because of its instability issues. This is a big problem for me, as I had to sell the DT1 to afford the DT2 :frowning: Hope things will be fixed soon.

Sharing a bug experience I haven’t seen detailed yet, on 1.03A
I power off my DT2, power it back on, and one of the tracks is sounding like it’s pitched down at -60 even though there is no parameter setting or lock–in fact it still shows tune = 0. Manually triggering or adding a new trigger to the grid will reset it to the correct pitch. With my current project I can reproduce this behavior 100% of the time by power cycling.

Dunno if its only my DT2 but in some combinations of Buttons ,
Like for example Func+Mod when it goes into the Submenu the Mixer has 5 pages-layers that you can normally access through repeated pushing of the MOD button.
However when i do this i sometimes need to press 2-5 times for it to move one position of the 5 down and the Display does some funky stuff, bit of flickering and such while i am „insisting“ via repeatedly pushinn the Mod button. In general i have little issues with the machine but some minor things like this do happen and i don`t know what it means

I have that same issue with the Page button some times, I have to press it 4-5 times for it to switch pages and the GUI gets all sluggish at the same time.

So does this really mess up re-sampling loops made in the DT2?

I’m no sure if it’s been mentioned yet, but if you have copied a project from your DT1 into your DT2, and that project had its External Mixer page setting set to Global, then the External Mixer setting in the DT2 is locked to those parameters and cannot be changed. Very frustrating.

Yup, write support and have them fix the data file for you. They were helpful to me by doing so, I just wish it weren’t necessary.

was able to resolve by removing ALL triggers from the affected track, then adding new triggers in different locations, then removing all the new triggers and placing triggers where my old ones were. have not seen this issue since but it was definitely there.

Would have been wise to save off the project in the affected state and not over-write it after, just to have something to send to Elektron support. Something I will do if I encounter this again

Experiencing midi jitter issues on both DT2 and DN2 on latest firmware when connected to Launchkey mk4 and Launchpad Pro.

The ‘control all config’ is not saved with the project.
When I make changes and save and reload the project, everything is reset.

Never noticed this, that’s a bad one. I hope you filed a ticket with support. The amount of blind spots they have with some of these features are piling up after 9 months, they keep surprising me.

yeah, unfortunately this means you can’t accurately sample/resample a loop without issues, especially if you want to use the grid machine

technical details can be found here

How much time is missing from the sample end on DT2 ?

As you can see on the screenshot it’s 1 msec. But it’s enough to break the waveform and produce a click sound when you loop it. Elektron support says that they are still working on low-level zero-crossing detection for stereo files. Maybe it’s the reason.

I think I’ve found a bug where p-locked program change messages aren’t sent when patterns are chained - IF the following pattern is set in the SRC page to the same PROG value as the one you p-locked in the previous pattern.

The DT2 doesn’t seem to send PC on pattern change so I have been p-locking on the last step of the previous pattern and was scratching my head as to why it sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t. Was blaming my DB-01 but have now tested with a MIDI monitor app.
