Yeah, especially when you use sequencer’s features like trig conditions and probability. You can’t set up certain length and decay because triggers will play differently each time and triggers will interrupt previous playing triggers - clicks again(
I don’t know if this is a DT2 problem or Transfer
But Transfer app always gets stuck when scanning/loading.
The spinner never stops and always has some number of requests active (when you hover over the spinner).
- The number it gets stuck at is always different
- I’ve tried three different computers and four or five different USB cables
Thanks for this very clear breakdown.
I’m honestly considering re-buying a DT1 and starting all over again after selling mine and using the DT2 for the past six months. It’s painful to admit it, but I keep running into issues that weren’t present on the original. I wish it weren’t the case, because in theory I think they mostly took it in the right direction… I’m just not convinced it spent enough time in the oven before launch. Now my concern is that some of these issues either aren’t fixable, or simply won’t be fixed because it will affect existing projects’ sound or are considered low priority edge cases.
I can’t be the only one who feels this way.
Would you list a few from your personal opinion? I’m curious.
I’m worried a bit too because they are using the new platform now afaik. As usual in programming higher abstraction can lead to lower performance. Anyway I hope development team does their best. However digitakt 2 is little slower than digitakt 1 - when you tweak knobs fast you can see that ui is laggy in comparison with digitakt 1.
Explain your problems with clear examples and why you consider this a bug to Elektron support.
By doing so, you help both yourself and the community.
I think @zhelnerovichda did a very good job outlining the click issue above (which wasn’t present on the DT1 using the same methods). I have diligently followed up with support about every bug I’ve encountered so far on the DT2 - some have been fixed, some were thought to be fixed and regressed, and some remain unfixed.
That does not preclude me from joining in the discussion here, and trying to gain a better understanding of what other users are encountering and whether they have found workarounds for specific issues. I’ve stated many times that I think they nailed the design philosophy on the DT2; it’s just disheartening to encounter existing features which appear to be improperly implemented and/or tested. I think it’s OK to express that.
I sent a bug report to Elektron support. More likely this is known issue and they are working on it already, I hope.
And more specifically, you’re helping me. I’m holding out buying the DT2 until things settle down a little. I have no big doubts that Elektron will solve the current issues but I believe in buying more or less finished products.
I don’t blame any company for pushing out a product before it’s stable. I would do the same in the current market and we as consumers seem to vote that way with our money as well. That’s just how it is.
So thank you to all of you who participate in this thread an send reports to Elektron, it is very much appreciated.
that made me laugh out loud for some reason. im in the same boat, waiting for the digitakt ii update that makes me spend the money on it, while still rocking my og
The lack of response & replies makes me think I’m the only one facing this issue
I think I’ll raise a support ticket or bug with Elektron
Sounds like the kind of bug that should have been fixed at firmware 1.02 and the associated transfer release. Are you on at least firmware 1.02 ?
I’m on 1.03A
This is nuts
Basically I can’t get the Transfer app + DT2 working reliably on any Windows machine I’ve tried. I’m now up to four different machines, three running Windows 11 and one older device on Windows 10
They all behave the same way, the request spinner never stopping and I’m unable to transfer files to/from the DT2 without failures
I feel like I’ve wasted a lot of money on this device, I really miss the ease of sample management on the OT. Even when occasionally I can get a wav to upload, it’s so crushingly slow I’m thinking of selling the DT2.
So first of all - is anyone running Windows here and using it to manage their DT2 using the Transfer app?
Yeah I’m on the latest version and latest OS on the Digitakt
I’ve formated the Drive+ and done a factory reset. Still happening
Seems the elk herd web app works ok, so I’m going to do some more testing & triage. However right now it appears that the Transfer app hasn’t been well tested on Windows
I’m on 1.03 and transfer works fine on my win10 laptop. Overbridge works well so far as I’ve used it in bitwig. It’s not the first thing I look for but it could be a problem with your specific unit.
I can reproduce the problem when connecting to the Digitone II as well
It’s harder, as there’s far less data and stuff on there but I can get the spinner stuck with the DN2 as well.
I have theory what is causing it. Going to do some more triage
It could be any number of combined factors involving the hardware so I hope you find out. My laptop has an AMD CPU for what it’s worth.
Thanks. The common factor from the first three machines I’ve tried is they are all Microsoft Surface (Surface Laptop, Surface Pro and a Surface Go) and a mix of Windows 11 and Windows 10
I’ve found an old Lenovo and a Dell laptop to try to rule out if it’s something weird about the Surface devices. I can’t imagine what, but it’s the only lead I’ve got so far
