Digitakt II 1.02/1.03 : Bug reports

Digitakt II OS 1.02 arrives with a number of performance improvements and fixes, one of which addresses an issue with the +Drive when reaching a certain capacity that could lead to sample unpredictability.

The +Drive issue affected a small number of people who have imported a significant number of GBs of samples. A problem occurred that could lead to crashes and/or faulty samples. Updating the OS will fix the aforementioned problems and prevent any future occurrence.

• Do any backup before upgrading Tranfer.
• Please update Transfer to 1.8.10 or later before updating your OS.
• After you install the new OS and restart your machine a file check will automatically commence.
  • For most, the OS update will continue as normal once that check is complete.
  • The file check may identify a problem and issue further instructions to:
    • Backup your project with Transfer
    • Format the +Drive samples
    • Then Transfer your projects back to your device
    • All done!

• i updated transfer app

Hi, I’ve noticed what I think is a bug.
If I create a new folder, then try to delete that folder via Transfer, I get an error “Device failed with operation”.

If I try delete it on the Digitakt II, I get an error saying "Error (Not Empty?)!

Not sure if making something wrong:

I’m not sure either, but didn’t the release notes specify a procedure for the order with which to do updating and or backing up - it may be that you have fallen into a grey area - might be worth re-reading those

Support said I should try a factory reset, which I’ve done, but still have the same issue. They said they are unable to reproduce the problem. Might I need to format the +Drive?

I’m on OS 10.14.6. Haven’t had any issues copying samples over with transfer, or copying projects over to my computer.

i just took the risk and updated without backing up. worked fine

Then yes, I would try formatting +Drive.

This will happen if you’re trying to back up a DT1 project

except my DT2 never saw any DT1 Project

That did the trick. Luckily I only had 5gb on it, so could be worse. Gives me a chance to reorder my recorded folder properly as well

I updated today and some of my patterns have been changed to the point in which they are no longer recognizable

Not sure what parameters were changed (if any?)

Just tried a power cycle and it didn’t fix anything- super bummed out because these were my favorite patterns for a specific project!

In case of emergency you can downgrade to the previous OS (don’t save your project with the new firmware yet!):

The pitch bend parameter was sort of wrongly implemented in the previous versions:

Pitchbend issue found. The digitakt starts mostly with all PBs for all the tracks at 0 (as can be seen in the MODULATION SETUP PITCH BEND menu under SETUP). But after using PB and releasing it so it returns to its default ‘null’ position, the PB value in this menu skips to 64, resulting in offpitch sounds in relation to the other trks. The range of the PB on the digitakt is -128 to 127, so 64 would be ‘offpitch’ but still it interprets default middle position of the PB controller as 64. I woul…

They corrected this in 1.02:

The pitch bend range was not -128 to +127. This resulted in unwanted behaviors 
when controlling the pitch bend.

This could lead to your issue that everything is “off” now (a wild guess).

Thank you for the response, but I never use pitch bend!

The same thing happens when the DT2 is connected to my laptop via USB and I use Logic (even with MIDI messaging switched off)
