Digitakt doesn´t send program change to an external synth

I just created a topic about this exact thing but then find this one, I’m also noticing it only sends it if it changed.
So to summarize: if I want to sequence an automatic change to the correct patch, at the start of a sequence, I’ll have to add 2 steps to do it, where the second one is a different, but the actual program I want? Seems a bit silly…

Hi, I’m having the same issue now. In the end did you solve the problem? Could you summarize the steps to make it work? at the moment I’m trying to solve a similar problem between the Digitakt and a model:samples. I opened a thread a couple of days ago as well. If you could give me some info on how did you solve it, that would be so helpful
thanks!

Yeah, I’m getting mad at it too. I’m running Digitakt as a Master and TR-6S as a Slave. I’ve removed Program Change send so that is doesn’t send one every time I change Bank or a pattern in a bank. So I use MIDI tracks to send PC, and I get inconsistent results from one project to another while ALL MY MIDI settings are exactly the same. Do people experience the same stuff on DT 2 ? With or without trigs or trigless trigs ? From Pattern 01 to 0x ? And back ? At the begining on pressing PLAY ? While moving from one bank/pattern to another ?

Ok, here are my findings to operate Program Changes from de DT OG to the TR-6s :

  • Make sure [PROG CH SEND] is unticked under {MIDI CONFIG/SYNC}, otherwise, the DT will automatically advance through TR-Xs Banks and Patterns (unless this is what you want and there is nothing else to do. When going to double tap [stop] “All Notes Off” it will always reset to first bank, first Pattern though)
  • On the chosen MIDI track, for a given pattern, set the channel of the TR-xS and (preferably) the rhythm pattern number you like for this DT pattern.
  • Put a Trigless Trig on the first step of the DT, alone or preferably with the same MIDI CH/PC that the global per pattern settings you just entered.
  • initially, I put “1st” as a condition so as not to re-set every time the TR-xS, but as it is the same demand, the latter seems to ignore it anyway: Pattern variations chain from one to the next on those presets that are programmed to do so (not all). I decided to play those trigless trigs 100% of the time : if it gets ignored first, it’ll work the second time round.
  • I rarely get missed PC, but it seems to depend on the TR-xS pattern of origin to be change - therefore a Roland issue rather than an Elektron one.
