Digitakt + Digitone > Have Digitone use different Pattern BPM?

Hi Guys,

So i’m using these two machines like the manual recommends.
Now since I use the Digitone for melodies I am using 1:2 & 2:2 + Micro timing to create 8 bar loops instead of the usual 4. That works; but I am wondering if I could have the Digitone use a lower Pattern BPM than the Digitakt. The normal Tempo > FUNC+Yes only works on the Digitakt since thats the Master. That combination does not work on the Digitone (it says midi in the bottom left).

Is there a way to have the digitone use 60 bpm while the Takt uses 120 without breaking them up? I tried using 60 BPM as global BPM on the digitakt and then use 120 as Pattern BPM but that does not work.

Any other tips to create long chord progressions on the tone are welcome! I know the usual pattern chaining but thats just not ideal.,

Of course this doesn’t work when you sync it to an external clock. You can’t utilize two different clocks. But you can use different scale settings.

In the Midi Config > Sync settings and on the slave device, choose to receive Transport but not Clock. Then the boxes will start together but can run at their own tempos (tempi, technically :nerd_face:)

If you still want your boxes to be in sync, keep sync on but change bpm ratio on the DN to 1/2 (in Fn+Page menu)

Don’t forget to change the Max Pattern Length, it defaults to 16, so if you change the track scale, change that to match, so 32 steps, or 64, 128, etc., or infinite. Just know that with infinite it will never restart, and unless I’m mistaken it will be difficult to seamlessly change patterns.

Actually there is a master/pattern length parameter (M. LEN), but also a pattern length for change parameter (CH. LEN), possibly set to different values of course.

In above configuration, it’s the pattern change length that needs to be set correctly.

I wouldn’t know if they are bound to scale multiplier or not, though.
