Digitakt + Bastl Thyme

Hey y’all, I was hoping to get some clarification on some audio routing. I am thinking about buying a Bastl Thyme tape delay unit which has a 1/4 stereo input. I know DT is considered a mono unit… but it has two output channels L + R obviously. When I use the headphone out jack I can hear panning effects and whatnot which I think is what is confusing me.

So what I want to know is if I use the L + R output of the DT to 1/4 sereo input of the Thyme, am I essentially sending two copies of a mono signal over to it? It doesn’t seem like the two mono signals would sum to stereo in a way which would preserve the onboard effects. Maybe the headphone out to the Bastl, would that be “full stereo?” Or if I set the Pre/Post option to Pre maybe it wouldn’t matter if it was a mono output from just the L channel - as in stereo effects would stillpass through?

Not sure if I’m overthinking it but essentially I don’t want to spend money if I’d be getting half of it’s functionality or something. Thanks for the clarification!

The outputs of the DT are stereo… you would need a Y cable for the job I believe, two mono jacks to one stereo jack

Thank you! Turns out I was overthinking it then.

The DT sample tracks use mono samples but the unit is stereo out. Tracks can be panned and the effects are stereo.
