Digitakt Analog Heat and overbridge (routing)

Dear Elektronauts,

I’m new to Elektron and I’m looking for help to integrate Analog Heat and overbridge in my set up wit.

I use :

  • Macbook Pro, High Sierra

  • DAW : Ableton

  • Digitakt + Analog Heat + Elektron Overhub connecting DT & AH to my mac

  • Soundcard : Focusrite Clarett 2Pre

  • Allen&Heath mixer (ZED 22fx)

  • TR09

  • SH01A

  • Moog Mother 32
    (I send midi from Digitakt to those three with Kenton midi thru)

My problem is that I can’t figure out the best way to route all my gear through the Analog Heat, while using overbridge.

In my Ableton audio preferences I use the Digitakt as the audio input and the Focusrite as the output to my speakers.

At the moment, I have my Digitakt running with overbridge plug in with 8 audio separate tracks in Ableton (which is amazing I have to say) + one audio track for Analog Heats overbridge plug in (audio is coming from Digitakt midi channel, post fx).

In this set up I can only affect the sound coming from the digitakt but not my other gears, such as my tr09.

Would you have any hints or advices? Maybe I also missed something.

I think the best way is using overbridge (it’s the workflow that I like actually) but maybe it would make more sense to use Heat from the mixer, but then I wouldn’t be able to use overbridge. I have the feeling there are so many possibilities that I’m missing something…

I don’t have analog heat but, think you could put it on a return track in ableton and send audio to it that way the you can run multiple things to it… of you can just drop it on each channel at a time and make recordings, think I would do it that way to design the distortion for each sound

Thank you for your answer.

I already tried to put the plug in on individual channels to design the sound but the plug in doesn’t work : I can’t select Analog Heat in overbridges front panel (it shows “no device selected”). It is weird because I can select the Analog Heat on the channel taking the audio from digitakt midi channel. It is like I can’t use the Plug in on 2 different tracks which should be possible. I have the same issue when I put Analog Heat on a return track : I can’t select any device on the front pannel.

Anybody has this problem too?

You can only use the plugin on one channel at a time (which makes sense- it’s running though an analog circuit). If you want to use it on multiple channels at once , as @DanJamesAUS says set it up on an aux, set the wet/dry mix to fully wet and use sends to use it like a send effect. What I usually do though is set up the Heat on a channel, bounce that in place, then go to the next channel set up the Heat how I want it on that channel and bounce that, etc etc. It’s a bit time consuming but works well

Thanks ! After giving a thought it makes sense that the Heat can be used on one channel only… I’ll try that later !
