Digitakt 2 - send midi to multi timbral synths via midi hub

Hy there! I’m really excited to have my first Digitakt and i’m trying to get the very best from it.
In my setup i have 2 multi timbral synths and I am looking to use about 4 tracks on each. I also have a CME U6midiPro hub.

What I want to do:

  • send midi data to my 2 synths, but to control each track on separate midi chanels

  • to be more specific: Acces Virus synth goes in port 1 in the midi hub and Roland MC909 goes into port 2 on the midi hub. The synths each have multiple part tracks.

  • I want to send midi data from my Digitakt 2, but I want an option to select the ports from the midi router. Is this posible? For example, if I choose midi chanel 1 on the Digitakt, it will send data to midi chanel 1 on Access Virus and Roland MC909 in the same time. All I want to do is basically send midi to 3-4 pars on each synth, but with the option to choose between the Midi Hub ports.

Is this posible somehow? Am I doing something wrong?

Waiting for your answer, really hope there is a way around this.

thanks a lot fam!

I don’t really know the CME U6 MIDI Pro, but looking at the screenshots from the software the easiest way seems to be routing the input to both outputs and then place a MIDI filter on both outputs. If you filter out the channels you don’t need for each port it should give you the wanted result.

Of course you have to make sure that both synths are set up to receive the right channels.

Welcome to the forum!

There is no need to use a MIDI hub for what you want to do.

Both the MC-909 and (depending on the variant) the Virus have MIDI soft Thru capability, which means that you only need two MIDI cables to connect your DT2 to the two other units. Then you can control which synth your sequences are sent to by setting the transmit channel numbers of the DT2 and the receive channel numbers on the two synths.
