New to Digitakt.
How can I create a crossfade ,for example, a sampled pad sound ?
DTII does not offer crossfades. Possible solutions:
-
in your DAW: create seamless samples by doing crossfades there, export and reimport on DTII
-
on DTII: make amp envelopes that make it blend in and out (from silence) and put it on two channels, alternating and thus overlapping
-
on DTII: make amp envelopes that make it blend in and out (from silence), and put a lot of delay and reverb on it
and as always, see if when it is looped as it is if there’ll be audible clicks or not, and if they go away when you filter the sound and add reverb and delay …
I’m curious about this too. I don’t have a Digitakt, but I’ve been sorta looking at it and reading the manual. It’s not entirely clear to me if Track MIDI controls are addressable by channel, or if external MIDI CCs only affect the currently selected track. If MIDI CC can control each track by channel, then couldn’t you CC Amp Volume on two tracks(by mapping them to different channels), and use external faders to do a sort of cross fade? unless the original poster is refering to a fade on the sample itself…
You can either use auto channel or specific midi channel
Which you can freely assign
In terms of crossfade a sample - digitakt can only play one sample On a track at a time . To crossfade you’d need to play two
So you have to hack it to use two tracks , one fading down and one fading up
Unless you put ‘each track’ on the left and right of a stereo sample and basically use pan to fade between the two, though it’ll also come out left and right speakers depending on the pad.
Thx for the reply I probably have to do it that way.
I really regret that Elektron didn’t implement this function in the Digitakt itself as I think crossfading a sample is something fundamental in using a sampler.
Thx …I’ll give it a try
You can also blur the edges with a bit of delay or reverb which can work in some cases.
You can trig lock the delay so it only comes in at the end of the sample.
