Digitakt 2 backup project?

hi, i have the digitakt for a while and i love it but

  • i can’t export or backup project… i can do that on Transfer and it saves me a PRESETS.dt2prj of 86kb so i guess just data
  • if i sysex dump project directly in Dgitakt2 i can record that sysex dump with a program on my mac but still only data probably
  • i can’t see my sounds on Transfer to my mac… i can only see 132 write protected sounds that are not corresponding to my sounds on my project on digitakt 2
  • also i can export my kit ? i see there is a dump sysex there too but even there just data due the small kb

i’d like to export the whole project with all the samples used and pattern and everything, but i can’t do that, or not able to… any help?

That particular project has only factory samples, so they are not included in the transfer backup. If you have a project with your own samples, transfer will include those.

Right now, transfer can’t do that. Looks like a major oversight and has been mentioned in the feature requests thread.

thanks a lot! ok i was in the first project but probably is locked (write protected) cause i have even my samples there, so i just saved the current (and only) project to another slot, rename and now i can do export of that!!
i finish with a backup prokect of 130 mega this time, thanks again. and fingers crossed for the export kits, would be a nice feature indeed!

anyway can’t still see my sounds on transfer as they are on digitakt… i can only see that default sample write protected only

This is not clear. What do you mean by sound (it’s sample + parameters in DT1).

But best thing to do to make sure of what is going on is the following sequence of actions:

  1. Upload or record a new sample so that you’re sure it’s not used elsewhere
  2. Create a new project, and a new pattern with this sample. Save the project.
  3. Transfer the project to your computer
  4. Delete the sample from your DT
  5. Upload the project : it should work as it did earlier

If not, this is an unwanted bug and you should contact Elektron support and report the sequence of actions you did.

i made a video, is more clear, no idea what i did wrong

Sounds and samples are not the same thing. This hasn’t been helped by the change in terminolgy.

  • DT2 calls the combination of wav file (or sample) and all it’s settings (filter, amp etc) a ‘preset’
  • DT1 and transfer call the same thing a ‘sound’

This is different to the wav file on it’s own. In the video you first show a list of samples loaded into slots in your project, then you show the ‘sounds’ in transfer.

Take a look at the early discussions about presets and samples in the digitakt 2 manual, (section 5.2) and when you look at transfer, remember it’s showing a DT2 ‘preset’ as a ‘sound’.
