Difficulty setting mod wheel to adjust delay send on chorus

I have a sound on Track 1 and this sound has chorus, and I would like to use the mod wheel to increase the delay send on the chorus track.

I have correctly set up the joystick using the following procedure:

  1. Double-press the “FX” track button
  2. Press “Sound”
  3. Press the down arrow to go to “Settings”, press “Yes”
  4. Press the down arrow to go to “Modulation Wheel”, press “Yes”
  5. Spin encoder “A” to “CHOR: Delay Send”, press “Yes”
  6. Spin encoder “F” to a desireable depth (for instance “85”)

I can visually verify the “MW” is reacting to my movements with the joystick when I am focused on the FX track.
However when I press “Track 1” then press “FX”, the “MW” does not move with the joystick.
In this current state, the delay send on the chorus does not behave how I desire it to behave.
I am aware I may be misunderstanding the functionality of the FX track.
How can I live perform with a sound on track 1 (a sound using chorus) and use the mod wheel to increase the delay send on the chorus?
