I’ve been using flex machines for SCW and chromatic sample chains - I’ve found a site that’s excellent http://patcharena.com/tag/octatrack/ (Bunch of cool SCW and chromatic sample chains ready to be sliced into 16) anyway my mind had separated static and flex machines into static for long samples and flex for short now I’ve read properly and it says to use static machines and I can’t think why that is?
I don’t have a clue as you are well aware, but aren’t the three main differences between Flex and Static:
a) Flex is ram (up to 86mb total) whereas Static reads off the CF card.
b) LFO’s can modulate Flex start (STRT) paramter;
c) Flex have better slice looping, i.e. part via loop point rather then the whole slice in a Static machine.
