Did the electronic / dance music album peak in the 90’s early 2000’s

The debate wasn’t about which era produced the best music ?

Looks like we have a lot of similar tastes, esp. Orbital and Deftones. Nice!

Maybe it’s people like us that NEED to be the movement. We are the music makers, we are the dreamers of the dreams.

Also, you know what made early 90s electronic music so good? 2 words, Alesis Quadraverb

Haha. Alexis Quadraverb was probably more responsible for the sound of Warp records than any other single piece of gear.

Reference the preset #75, “Taj Mahal”, for example.

I’m open when it comes to music, so yea, I feel really lucky in that sense. I love MUSIC.

I admit I don’t love every song/track I’ve ever heard, but even genre’s I’m not really into I can still always find a track I love in said genre. For example, I’m not a fan of country, but I love the song Jolene by Dolly Parton :two_hearts:

The Warp Records catalog was about 90% of my electronic music experience as a youth. I will check out the Taj Mahal preset when I get home!

great watch, and pretty much sums it up, ie music has not really progressed since the early 2000’s :+1:

Can you describe this in greater detail? Like, Jersey Shore posing?

“King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard”

True. Why did I never buy a quadraverb? Such an easy solution

Well, it‘s certainly too late now. Quadraverbs locked up almost twenty years ago.
The hidden security mechanism made it only possible to use them before the 2000s.
That‘s why todays music is so awful^^

I heard Aphex Twin still has his one unlocked.

As another 40yo it sometimes feels like it peaked in the way back.

But then again I only really heard the good stuff back then through word of mouth because of the people around me who were actively looking for it. Sure there’s more noise than ever to wade through these days, but I expect there’s still new and exciting stuff out there - i just don’t care enough to seriously look for it.

iTunes marketplace got the ball rolling - allowing for full albums to be purchased as partial single tracks, thus breaking some of those albums’ continuity during the early 2000s. It ruined beat-mixed DJ music for a minute with those dumb ass hard cut offs. No one wanted to buy physical full length albums anymore unless you’re buying a SACD or DVD-A of a jazz or classical album for critical listening. It’s less work to get a single track released, get it licensed for commercial use, then move on to something production related where you may have more job stability.

Haven’t been able to unlock mine since the bug hit.
