DFAudio Minibay v2 vs Patchulator Pro

I want to buy a desktop patchbay but I can’t make up my mind between these two devices.

I don’t really understand what the send-return model means on a patchbay so I’m kind of confused as to what the Ppro can do that the Minibay can’t (besides the seamless switch to a different effect chain).

I really need help and am going the experts here can lend me their insight.

I find myself coming to the conclusion that Patchulator v2 is the best choice. Possibly even multiple Pv2s as a central switchboard between mixers and FXs. Main issue with DFA is not using stereo mini jacks. I don’t see the additional features of PPro being worth the money over Pv2.

Have you considered saving up for the Erica Synths Matrix Mixer? It’s considerably more expensive, but also takes the concept to another level.

Thanks for reminder!

For me personally, I would like to have a center piece between mixers and effects with “multi-bus” architecture. Something like what MRCC does for MIDI, but for audio.

Let’s see:

  • 4 mono + 3 stereo inputs (auxes / group outs from mixer / patchbay)
  • 5 mono + 8 stereo/mono loops (pedals)
  • 2 mono + 4 stereo outputs (returns in mixer / master out / recording interface)

Routing + splitting + merging + volume + LPF/HPF.

~$1500?
