Devices wont stop if i start playing in ableton

Hello all and thank you for all of the wonderful help and support here on this journey. I have been working slowly and in steps building a hybrid setup. I got everything together and am pretty successful with routing midi and clock but im experiencing an issue that I cant seem to figure out.

setup is thus
Digitakt
drumbrute and analog four
im using ableton for clock
becuase of the “hybrid” part I am hoping to add some soft synths to the mix
ive got a template setup in ableton running overbridge on both (DT and A4) with all channels to individual tracks. drumbrute is also in ableton.

now i can start everything at once in ableton and it all seems to be in time pretty good. this great as a begginer this was a big step for me

now im experiencing the issue and topic for this post and im not even sure if its an ableton issue, a settings issue or both

problem is my elektron devices will only stop playing in 1 of 2 way

  1. if i start them individually before ableton
  2. if i start ableton i can only stop them with ableton
for example i can start everthing press stop on drumbrute and its sequence will stop, but if i press stop on DT or a4 they both just keep goin ony way is to press stop on ableton

this really only is a problem if i try to trigger just a clip in ableton then both and also drumbrute all start aswell. which i guess is also a problem I want to be able to start and stop all devices individually on their own and keep evetything still in time.
sync in set to
clock recieve, transport recieve on both and no send

im wondering if maybe i should consider flipping it and slaving everthing to DT maybe ?

thoughts, help, questions, recommendations… all welcome

That sounds like expected behaviour, and I agree it can be annoying at times. What I do when wanting to grab just one or two loops of a sequence while continuing to play other devices is disable all program change settings between devices, and keep a blank pattern in every bank in each project. Then, when I want, for example, the Digitakt to stop, I switch the pattern on it to the blank one on the last repeat.

If you made digitakt the master device, when you pressed stop on the digitakt everything else will stop as well so I don’t know if that’s any better.
