Depends for me. Sometimes the keyboard version will have a better or fuller featured layout (evolver, prophet 12, etc) and it’s always nice to have more knobs. Sometimes it just feels more cohesive to have the full keyboard version. Sometimes the keybed itself is a big part of the draw for me (hydrasynth for example, osmose would obviously be another).
On the other hand, sometimes the keybed is awful and I feel I’m better off with the module or rack version which is why I’m happy to have my esqm rather than the esq1 I used to have. Sometimes I’d just like to save some space since I have enough good keyboards which is why I’d like to swap my sq1+ for an sqr. Nothing wrong with that keybed but nothing special either. Also why I wish there was a rack module of the Casio cz5000 instead of the enormous keyboard version I have.
