I also noticed that the paint job on my units is slightly different although I don’t have any problems with the paint itself. The black of my A4 looks a bit more intense while the A4’s paint is more flat.

When I first got my A4 a while back, the paint job was noticeably just OK. There was some paint stripping around the screws, corners, etc. Not a big deal. The AR paint was a bit better, but still nowhere near the quality of the OT. Where I rest my hand (underneath the pads, on the bottom left edge) the paint is starting to fall off (probably due to the pH levels in my sweat, I used to notice this with my MacBook Pro). Anyway, I owned an OT for a few years and I always loved how the paint job felt. It was just incredibly thorough and solid. Great finish. AR & A4? Not so much.

Probably has to do with production costs, obviously… but I still don’t get it? Is this the only reason? Would love to know!

Anyway, is anyone currently offering custom paint jobs on the ARs?
