I also noticed that the paint job on my units is slightly different although I don’t have any problems with the paint itself. The black of my A4 looks a bit more intense while the A4’s paint is more flat.

First off, I love my AR & I absolutely love the work Elektron does. Not much room for complaints at all… far outweighed by the genius of their product line. I was just curious about the paint jobs chosen for the A4 / AR…
When I first got my A4 a while back, the paint job was noticeably just OK. There was some paint stripping around the screws, corners, etc. Not a big deal. The AR paint was a bit better, but still nowhere near the quality of the OT. Where I rest my hand (underneath the pads, on the bottom left edge) the paint is starting to fall off (probably due to the pH levels in my sweat, I used to notice this with my MacBook Pro). Due to this minor chipping of paint of the corner, the metal underneath the paint is in effect starting to “rust” or oxidize…
Anyway, I owned an OT for a few years and I always loved how the paint job felt. It was just incredibly thorough and solid. Great finish. AR & A4? Not so much.
Probably has to do with production costs, obviously… but I still don’t get it? Is this the only reason? Would love to know!
Anyway, is anyone currently offering custom paint jobs on the ARs?

The differing paint jobs have been discussed many times over different threads but as for custom jobs I believe this chap could be worth talking too … http://www.elektronauts.com/users/dickmalibu
