I tried enabling sync in midi in for the model d in ableton and this change almost made it, but still a little bit delayed, changing some other things…
What would you change?
I have to say that I am kinda newbie in this things and I will welcome whatever do you have to say. Even if you link a beginner midi routing or whatever.
Why not just connect the DT via 5 pin to Model D, then use USB Midi on DT? The way you have it set now it has to run through the Scarlet, through the laptop when surely you can just plug it directly?
Ooook now I remember. This way, I can use the wonders of overbridge and also send midi to my vsts if I need to make pads or use another synths from ableton plus I can record everything super nice.
Yeah that’s no problem. You only need Overbridge to record the DT audio stems. Connect DT midi out to Model D In and then Model D thru to Scarlett midi in. Make sure model D midi channel is something unused on DT (default not 1-8 or 10 or… There’s another default used channel…). And then when you want to sequence a VST just make sure that VST channel is listening on another unused channel. This is configurable in the DAW (check the manual).
You also need to decide the master clock and transport (DT or Live) and configure those accordingly.
It sounded like you are sequencing the D through Overbridge which means a lot of unnecessary circular trips. Doing it above will be direct.
Are you using an “external instrument” (Ableton Plugin) to route the audio from the scarlet and MIDI to the Model D? If not, you should try it. You’re dealing with audio latency from Overbridge and the scarlet at the same time.
The external instrument should help with automatic delay compensation between Overbridge and your audio interface.
