Delay Pedal Recommendations for Synths

Expert Mode to the rescue for standalone editing.

In preparation for our gig in Vegas, I spent a fair amount of time practicing using Expert Mode on my H9 because when we’re on stage, I didn’t want to scramble for my iPad if I needed to adjust something. I also practiced using the quick edit mode - only allows access to 3 parameters instead of all 10 like in Expert but I wanted to cover my bases.

Strymon DIG sounded great when I had it… only wished the modulation was controlled by knob instead of a 3-way switch.

I tend to use the standard delays in the SP-16, A4 and Valhalla VST for bread-and-butter sounds, but just picked up a Polymoon for more extreme modulated stuff. It was intended for the Blofeld but already proving useful on percussion and noise sources.

Mooer Repeater - cheap digital with dry kill, used on a send
Ibanez Mini - analog delay with nice dark feedback
Boss RDD-10 - crunchy and nice sounding digital delay, sounds much like the Boss DD pedals

I also use Elektron delays, of course!

I’d quite like to play with a Strymon Dig pedal. Also interesting to me are the Dreadbox chromatic module and would love to get my hands on a Verbos Muti-Delay one day.

Because live? The chunky TC Electronic pedals look good for live use. Large knobs, no switches, space efficient on a tabletop.

I picked up a eurorack module to bring the signal to instrument level and the DOD Rubberneck sounds way too good for the price.

Well it is a $370 delay pedal, so I’d say it probably should sound good for the quite high price! I have two and love them.
