DAWless

Is the cringiest word you can use in this hobby, furthermore no one cares that you aren’t using a computer.

It’s stupid logic anyway, unless you are fully analog you’re using a similar concept. Even then using a sequencer or midi controller makes the word obtuse.

Sorry to be negative today, just have had enough of this trendy word.

don’t be sorry, we all hate it. People that boast about ‘dawless’ are almost always focusing on the tools rather than the process and outcome.

There’s a town in the UK called Dawlish

I believe they use nothing but computers to make their music.

I’ve also heard they have a larger than normal problem with cannibalism. They must all be crazy… crazy Dawlishes.

I put DAWless setups right up there with guitar only bands. (Or is that right down there?)

Think about all the great music created in the history of the world. Most all of it was produced…DAWless.

Hey, Beethoven, no one cares that you’re DAWless!

New trend: DAWless-less. The act of using a DAWless setup with a DAW.

Glad I’m not the only one, I wouldn’t care so much if my friends didn’t also use the term.

I can’t even handle D.A.W. being pronounced as a word, so I’m all in on hating DAWless.

I love Dawless. Great word. My computer broke once and I was Dawless for like 3 weeks. Crazy times.

Is Outdaws the appropriate collective noun for a gang of dawless producers?

Someone rightfully pointed out before that it’s a hardware (or hardware based) setup, no relation and nothing to do with DAW or its lack of. How about a DUH to the folks who keep insisting to use the word as if it’s the centre of the music universe.

Imagine you attach a contact sensor to a succulent and try to make noise/music with it. Pretty sure hardware existed before software in music making, like using sticks and what not in the forest from ancient times. Do we insist the software people were making hardware-less music?
