Good question :man_shrugging: we can dance any time anywhere !

Thanks !

Thanks  Yeah me too. Was really into that in my teens. Glad I’m back at this tempo. It triggers something in me that gives me near infinite energy it seems like.

Hi Dave, just wanted to chime in and say that I’ve been following your setup changes (and youtube explanations) for many years with great interest and pleasure. Thank you for being so open on this and to allow us to learn from your experience!

A small question regarding the DJ mixer(s) you use / have used: As most Elektrons have balanced outputs and DJ mixers only have RCA unbalanced inputs: Do you connect the Elektrons directly or do you use something like a reverse DI in between?

Anything has 4/4 kick is so outdated and frankly 90mins of this stuff is too much for me

I cant see functionality being outdated anytime soon luckily

Yeah, fucksake @DaveMech. Forcing people to listen to 90 minutes of outdated 4/4…

What a bastard.

Yeah fucking 8th note hihats… so outdated. Just cant listen to them.

16th notes? They can do one an all.

Snares? I dont care what note division they are on, wankers all of em. Get with the times.

Yes, but there’s no surprise — obsolescence was planned. We’re just old nostalgics who love Nina Simone, Bach, Jeff Mills, Donna Summer, Radiohead… That’s why there are films like Ready Player One and Stranger Things — because there’s a way to sell us all that old stuff again, since we have a hard time living in the futur.

48min loving it (that dub stab, tasty), thou techno is not really my thing, but this sounds very high quality! Question thou, how does one attach all the devices to the case?

This set isn’t the tempo or style I usually get into, yet it held me entranced from start to finish – twice. Great work and I hope the recording gets you lots of gigs!

Thank you ! Possibly the biggest impact if I can sway even someone who’s not that into techno :tada:

The case! Yeah that’s a certain system. I can’t share this just yet, other than that there’s a plan to share this in a pretty neat way

There might be pink noise in the future, if you listen carefully.

Excellent work Dave - sounds both organic and raw while polished at the same time. And it sounds like you had so much fun playing it! Truly inspirational for this who dream of being able to do live techno one day!

I have one question - though I think I know the answer.

Did you use the side chain functions of either the Boum or the IMC?

Cheers,
Alex

Thank you so much Alex ! That’s indeed the sound signature I’ve been trying to sculpt over the years for a live set

As for your question: no side chain usage on either boum or imc. I use side chaining on the internal comps of DT II and DN II though  so there’s quite an intricate chain of compressors at work.
