Is the Dark Trinity worth having. I have the Octa and the A4 and a TR 8 for drums.
That’s already a dark trinity!
It depends: do you need a highly malleable analog/sampling hybrid drum machine with all the Elektron sampler accoutrements, or are you fine with the classic sounds of Roland?
I think you’re fine with what you have. You have all the sampler you need with the OT, and you can make analogue tones already with the A4, and you can build fantastic drum sounds with what you have. Unless you really want an analogue drum machine, I’d say put your money on something else.
For example, I recently bought and EVENTIDE SPACE reverb pedal, which is super amazing and deep, and has added a whole new dimension to my sound. I can’t imagine not having it, now that I own one. My point is, you have all your basic needs met (samples, analogue, drums), so maybe toss in some ‘seasoning’, or something really different than what you already have, to your set up.
Just my two cents.
I just finished up the DT. So far it’s awesome. The sample part of da rytm is grimmy and good. And the bass hits.
Bought an A4 off ebay, it came in the mail last week with the wrong plug.
Got the right plug off the website.
Finally fired up the Dark Trinity last night.
Magical to say the least!
