I’ve just found some Model Cycles recordings from a few years ago on my hard drive. I was surprised to realise just how textured and punchy the sound is, with such a huge personality. I’m a huge fan of the Digitone (1 and 2) and, to be honest, I find their sound much less distinctive. I’m convinced that the Model Cycles will definitely be regarded as a cult instrument in a few years’ time.
And here are the sounds – I’ll just point out that back then I used to run an Oto Boum in the chain, which heavily compressed the master output of the Model Cycles.
My fresh album recoded entirely with Elektron Model:Cycles and polished with Sausage Fattener and Freakshow Industries Plugins. It’s an 1hour jam cut into separate tracks. Something between hardcore techno and ambient. Not sure if it fits for dancing, though good for walkings to job
