Is anyone out there using the A4 to trigger a Future Retro XS. I’m waiting for the the A4 to come in the mail and figured I would reach out to see if anyone is already doing this with some success.
I’m a CV embryo …no experience!
A4 has 4 CV tracks i’m curious how one would hook the 4 up to the various semi modular input options the XS has. What would some of you do, looking to fast track some learning
The input options on the top of the Future retro XS are:
CV IN - This is for pitch - so given to take 1 cv track - must have
OSC MOD - Probably #2cv track as can be applied to osc A or B on XS+PWM
Filter Mod - this would be great for automated sweeps etc, maybe #4
Vel IN - Accent responds to this soooo maybe #4
Gate IN - Must have for Note on CV track #3
Amp IN - Follows filter if nothing plugged in so pass initially
I’ll probably play around with the 4th CV but 3 are probably must haves. There is a vel and gate out on the XS so i could carry the signal over to another input also.
Anyways What would you do, I mainly bought the A4 to trigger the XS, of course it has added goodness.
Opinions are much appreciated.
i use the A4 to control an XS.
i have cv / gate in controled from A/B
and velocity and filter mod control from C/D. works a treat.
the only shortcoming i find on the A4’s part, is that you dont use the “velocity” knob from the note page to control velocity. in the cv track it appears to do nothing. instead you have to just send a dedicated control voltage paramater lock to control velocity. - it would be nice if there was a way to route the main velocity control to cv out… nice but not essential, as this would allow the ability to copy an A4 internal track to a cv track with more ease.
you are going to love the combination of XS + A4
edit. also should mention that setting is just my bread and butter setup. there is fun to be had with experimentation also.
I use this combo. This was my first try with sequemcing the xs cv and trigging it from the a4. Plenty fun for just one mod destination!
