What’s your experience programming the nords without a computer? Also, preference between the two?

I mean everything needs to be thought about if you’re going to do anything without the editors
I have the G1 rack, so that has knobs and an interface, but I have the G2 engine which has no interface at all. I bought a Behringer BCR2000 specifically to use with it and I think I have a setup that works where I can use it like a hardware device (but it needs work).
Even still, trying to use them without the editors is an unnecessary handicap. There’s so much ground to cover there. I have an old Mac Mini that I use headless, and remote control it from my M2 Mac Mini, and that works very well so far for both.
As for preferences, I always loved the sound of the G1, but the G3 adds so many additional features and modules, it’s really hard to compete. The midi and mutator functions alone make it worth it, but you also have a lot of additional stuff like the shape morphing Ocillators and LFOs, and it handles the DSP better by splitting the two regions together, so if you’re clever, you can use the G2 as 8 separate sub patches, and they’ll all have their own allotted processing power.
In this patch I’m using one of the “FX” sections on one patch of the G2 to run a sequencer, process the audio, and control 18 parameters on the G1 with the mutator function, so I can use the “variation” feature to hop through different versions of the same patch without having to reload it.
This was more sort of proof of concept than anything really complex, but I definitely have some ideas now and want to see where this can go.
