Cue on XVOL vs XLVL

Hey elektronauts

First off thank you all for beeing such an informative and innovative platform. Really enjoy browsing around here, loads of great tipps and insights!

I do have a quick question regarding the transition trick with the crossfader. I’ve used XLVL for this, until a while ago i changed to XVOL. The fades from tacks are differently (kinda like it more) and i do like that XVOL is pre track fx so effect tails keep fading out.

But there is one problem i encountered. I can’t cue (or rather listen to a cued track) that i want to fade to (and for example edit it via headphones before fading over for a transition). Is that correct or is there any way around this ? Or is this only possible using XLVL ?

greetings

You mean you can’t hear a cued track when you use a scene with xvol and thus amp volume is down?
Have to check on my OT later.

Check mixer page, headphones mix…

Cue send is after the amp and fx so if your amp vol is -64 nothing will go to the cue.

That explains it, thanks a lot!

I’ve read this thread before:

So intead of having a linear fade in regards to volumes the volumes will fade when using xlvl.

Will chaos arrise if i would use XLVL for the Scene, where the transition track is muted (so i can still preview it), and then on the other scene where the transition track is active use XVOL ?

What are u guys using btw and why ?
